I was born in Hockenheim, Germany, and by the time I was eight years old I started working with clay because my mother had a little workshop at home. That’s When I Became aware of my tactile senses and I loved it Because it offers endless expressive possibilities. That is why I sign my work as Takto. my friends Consider me a creative and persistent person who is constantly searching for ways to grow. I would say the toughest times in my life were when I finished my studies in ceramic, photography and art therapy in England. It was not easy getting started in Mexico. I needed it, I needed it and I adapted to my style of work to what it was. Yesterday’s limitations have become today’s inspiration. I taught a course for about six years at private workshops and at a university in Merida (Mexico). It was part of their degree in product design. I love teaching the techniques I use to young people who have no artistic preparation, and so help them become artisans with a proud and noble craft. The materials we use are clay, slip, enamels and pigments. I love to create and I take my inspiration from the materials I use, as well as the cosmos and nature’s infinite variety of colors, I am also greatly inspired by Mexican architecture, the weathered colors on the walls of old Colonial houses as well as the aged textures and natural colors of the rocks and stucco in pre-Hispanic ruins. I collaborate with my husband, George Samuelson, who is an artist as well as a designer He helps me solve certain techniques issues when creating the bases and supports for metals or wood within the ceramic pieces. My dreams for the future include making my workshop bigger and be able to offer more work opportunities to the people of the beautiful Yucatan. It’s my way of giving back to the community for taking me in and becoming my home. Who are marginalized I hope I keep having more work to do so I may continue with this project, as well as supporting the two artisans working with me and their families by providing them with a place to live in a healthy environment. We are at the beginning of a revitalization period marked by a continuous creative approach, exploring the unlimited possibilities of our materials through a constant expansion of our aesthetic concepts. Our challenge is to gain new spaces for ceramics in the area of interior design and to increase its presence in our everyday lives.
